A real active day trip

Two waterfalls, one private journey

Leave Bogotá with your own professional driver for the rural access point near Choachí. El Chiflón is the first waterfall reached on foot; La Chorrera continues deeper into the mountain landscape.

This is not a sightseeing stop from the vehicle. It is a medium-difficulty trekking experience with uneven, sometimes muddy terrain, climbs and descents. Conditions and water flow vary with the weather.

Suggested flow

A realistic sample itinerary

Bogotá pickup

Meet your private driver at your hotel or residence.

Mountain transfer

Approximately 1.5 hours to the access/parking area, traffic dependent.

El Chiflón

About 30 minutes on foot from the trail start.

La Chorrera

Continue approximately one hour from El Chiflón.

Return

Allow around 1.5 hours to walk back, then drive to Bogotá.

Timing is approximate. The full trekking portion is usually around three hours, separate from roughly three hours of driving. Traffic, weather, trail conditions, access procedures and walking pace can extend the day, so no exact return time is promised.

Moderate difficulty

Expect rocks, mud, inclines, descents and potentially slippery surfaces—not an easy city walk.

Prepare well

Wear shoes with grip, comfortable layers and rain protection. Bring water and sun protection.

The itinerary is adjusted around current park access, weather and the group’s pace.

Frequently asked questions

How difficult is the La Chorrera hike?

The park classifies the experience as medium difficulty. It is a moderate mountain trek—not an easy walk—and can include rocks, mud, uneven or slippery surfaces, inclines and descents. Travelers should be comfortable walking for approximately three hours in changing outdoor conditions.

How long does the full tour take?

Plan approximately 7–9 hours door to door. Driving is normally about 1.5 hours each way, or approximately three hours total. Trekking is also approximately three hours: around 30 minutes from the trail start to El Chiflón, about another hour from El Chiflón to La Chorrera, and approximately 1.5 hours to trek back. Traffic, weather, park access, trail conditions and walking pace can extend the day, so an exact return time cannot be guaranteed.

How long is each part of the trek?

Allow approximately 30 minutes from the trail start to El Chiflón, approximately another hour from El Chiflón to La Chorrera, and approximately 1.5 hours for the return trek. That is around three hours of trekking in total, separate from the driving time. These are practical estimates and will vary with the group’s pace and trail conditions.

Are admission tickets included?

No. Park admission, activities and any guide fees are separate from the private transportation rate. Bogotá Car Service can reconfirm current access arrangements and assist with available online reservations or ticket purchases in advance, but the customer pays those costs unless a written quote explicitly states otherwise.

Is a guide included or required?

A licensed private tour guide is not automatically included. The park currently uses trail stations or fixed orientation points depending on the operating day, while a personalized park guide may be available by advance reservation. Because access and guide procedures can change, we verify the current requirements before departure. A separate licensed private guide can also be arranged upon request.

Does the driver hike with us?

Not by default. Your professional Bogotá Car Service driver provides the private road transportation, handles the pickup and return, and waits at the agreed access or parking location while customers complete the approximately three-hour trek. The driver is not presented as a hiking or licensed tour guide.

What should we bring?

This is a medium/moderate trek rather than an easy walk. Wear comfortable hiking shoes with reliable grip and bring suitable layers, rain protection, drinking water and sun protection. Conditions can be wet, muddy or slippery, so prepare for changing mountain weather.

Can larger groups travel together?

Yes. The Mercedes-Benz Vito is standard for groups of up to seven passengers. For larger groups, Bogotá Car Service can quote a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or another appropriate larger vehicle. The park access and walking requirements still apply to every participant.
